BREAKING: Bruins former first round pick decides to part ways with the NHL

JUL 16, 2023   |   BY AUSTIN SABOURIN
Sometimes, highly touted hockey players who were once considered stars in junior leagues struggle to find success in the demanding world of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Such is the case for Zachary Senyshyn, who was selected as the 15th overall pick by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 first-round draft.

Despite early expectations, Senyshyn couldn't make his mark in the NHL, leading him to make a difficult decision.

The 26-year-old Canadian forward has recently signed with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) and is set to join their training camp in just ten days.

Senyshyn's NHL career has been limited to 16 games across four seasons, playing for both the Bruins and the Ottawa Senators, and amassing a modest total of three points—two goals and one assist.

It's always disheartening to witness a highly regarded first-round pick, once brimming with potential, give up on their dream and pursue opportunities overseas.

Nonetheless, we can only hope that Senyshyn will rediscover his game and find success with the Wild Wings.
