Andrew Raycroft Shares Hilarious Story of His 'Almost' EBUG Moment

Retired goalie Andrew Raycroft - turned analyst - recently shared a hilarious story of how he was nearly pulled out of the NESN booth to serve as an EBUG for the Bruins.

On a recent episode of the Clearing the Crease Podcast with former NHL defenseman Mike Commodore and AHL broadcaster James Cybulski, Raycroft shared the incredible moment.

Raycroft discussed how (two or three years ago) he was nearly the Bruins' Emergency Backup (EBUG) after Tuukka Rask fell with an injury. And the story got WAY better after that:

Raycroft, now 42, spent the first eight years of his career with the Bruins organization after being selected 135th overall at the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

In his first full season (2003-04), the netminder was awarded the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year by collecting a 29–18–9 record with a 2.05 GAA, .926 SV% and three shutouts. The Ontario native finished his career with a record of 113-114-10-17, a 2.89 GAA and a .900 SV%.

In 2006, Raycroft was - ironically - traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Tuukka Rask, the same guy he was almost forced to be an EBUG at nearly 40 years of age for.
