Just ripping the hearts out of the city of Boston, the city fully expected the Bruins to bring some hardware back home but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Now with the Stanley Cup Playoffs behind us, it looks like the Panthers are still on the hunt. As the team reportedly has keen interest in Bruins free agent Tyler Bertuzzi, according to Andy Strickland of Bally Sports.
Bertuzzi put himself in a spot to succeed at the NHL trade deadline, scoring 16 points across 21 regular season games and adding 10 more points in seven playoff games.
Those numbers put him as one of the highest tired free agents this offseason, which is exactly why Florida is expected to pursue him.
The Florida Panthers saw first hand how good of a player Tyler Bertuzzi is, he could be a really strong asset on any team. Especially the Panthers with Matthew Tkachuk leading the way, that would be an extremely solid one-two punch.
Matthew Tkachuk and company would love for him to put together game-changing plays for the Panthers and Bertuzzi could certainly help.
Boston traded away some big pieces in order to free up some cap space, with Monday's trade that sent Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for two defensive prospects. That opened up around $6 million and the purpose was to hopefully resign Tyler Bertuzzi.
