The revelation began with The Globe & Mail reporting that Alex Formenton, a former Ottawa Senators draft pick playing in Switzerland, had presented himself at London Police headquarters in connection to an alleged assault involving five players. As the weekend unfolded, TSN further disclosed the identities of the other players involved.

According to Rick Westhead of TSN, four National Hockey League players—Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote—have been directed to surrender to police in London, Ont., facing charges related to an alleged incident during a Hockey Canada event in June 2018. The players are expected to surrender ahead of a press conference by the London Police Service on Monday, providing an update on the high-profile case.

Remarkably, the remaining four players, named by Westhead, had taken leaves of absence from their respective NHL teams over the past week or so. While the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, and New Jersey Devils offered no clarity on the reasons for these leaves, Calgary did mention that Dube was taking a mental health leave.
