Patrice Bergeron was coming back whether David Krejci was too - or not - but he revealed what was done to convince his longtime teammate to return.

For the first time in their careers, the Bruins were unsure of the future of the longtime players but they've both been massive pieces of Boston's historic season.

Sharing His Sales Pitch

According to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, the team kept a close eye on Krejci when he went home to Czechia for a season, and the captain played a big part in making Krejci a Bruin again.

As per Shinzawa:

Over the course of multiple calls, Bergeron delivered his pitch to his fellow center. With the two of them in place, a positive coach taking over and most of the roster returning, the 2022-23 Bruins would have a good chance of correcting what they believed was a premature Round 1 exit against Carolina.

‘'I knew that adding him to the mix and with myself coming back, I really liked what we had as a team already,'' Bergeron said.

It's note worthy that Bergeron mentioned a coaching change being a factor in the successful sales pitch, which coincides with previous rumours. Jim Montgomery has also been a breath of fresh air for the Bruins and it's shown in a big way.

Apparently after multiple calls with not only Bergeron, but David Pastrnak too, Krejci agreed to come back. On August. 8th, 2022, the Bruins announced that Bergeron and Krejci had signed one-year deals.
