The always-smiling Linus Ullmark showed his rare mean side during game five; however, it's reportedly something that the gentle giant has been possibly preparing for.

inspiration From Tim Thomas

According to Joe Haggerty of Boston Hockey Now, the Bruins netminder had been watching footage of former starter Tim Thomas, specifically, the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

''He had been watching some of the old videos and the old games from 2011. Including in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Vancouver Canucks when Tim Thomas drilled the Sedins...''

Not to mention, Thomas in 2011 and Ullmark this season are very similar, as Ullmark surpassed several of Thomas' records. That year, Boston's goalie won the Vezina, will there be another in 2023?

Thomas in 2011: 55-35-11, 2.00 GAA, .938 SV% and 9 shutouts.

Ullmark in 2023: 40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV% and 2 shutouts.

Of course, there's another reason why Ullmark is such a loveable guy and a fan favourite. Let's hope the Bruins can have the same result, as well!
