Patrice Bergeron suffered an injury scare in the final game of the regular season on Thursday night, and longtime friend Brad Marchand offered his own update on the Bruins captain.

Should We Be Concerned?

Boston held an optional skate this morning, and Bergeron was once again not a participant for the second consecutive day. After practice, general manager Don Sweeney met with the media to discuss the veteran's availability for game one.

''Taking an extra day again today. That's to be decided tomorrow – if he feels well enough, he'll play...Patrice doesn't need extra days of practice. If he feels better, he'll play.''

It appears as though Jim Montgomery and the Bruins are being extra cautious with Bergeron, as Sweeney also noted that along with a nagging injury, Bergeron is also dealing with an illness.

However, as Scott McLaughlin of WEEI shared, good friend Marchand - who may know Bergeron best - isn't too worried about whether he'll play tomorrow or not.

If the grizzled veteran has proven anything over the course of his 19-year career, it's that he'll play unless he literally can't, especially if it's the postseason.
