David Pastrnak has become a star in the NHL, on and off the ice, which lead to Jim Montgomery's recent comparison to a Boston Red Sox legend.

What Makes Pasta Stand Out?

When it comes to Pastrnak, the question really should be: What doesn't make him stand out?

The most notable attribute is obviously his goal scoring ability, and Montgomery recently dug up what really makes Pastrnak's shot - more specifically his one timer - so special.

The Bruins bench boss even went as far as comparing him to a Red Sox icon:

''I think he moves subtly by a half a foot to feet that allows him to know where he can get a shot through.''

‘'They had a couple blocked on him, and he adjusts. He's kind of like Pedro (Martinez) was on the mound. First time he's up against you, he's gonna set you up with a fastball. Then comes a curve. Then all of a sudden, he's going since, then he going's high. He sees how they're trying to defend him — defenseman and goalies — and then he adjusts.''

Pastrnak, 26, is having a Hart Trophy calibre season, if it wasn't for Connor McDavid, as he currently ranks second in goals (57) and fifth in points (105) in 79 games this season.

He's also heating up at the right time just ahead of the postseason. The 26-year-old has 9 goals in his last 9 games and 12 points in his last 10.
