All the while, they have 6 RFA's and UFA's who could be brought back, should they fit the teams direction.
The same can be said for Kevin Shattenkirk, as he only played 61 games during the regular season. He was a low-cost defenseman and was often replaced in the lineup by Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon. Lohrei's experience makes the former Stanley Cup winner, someone who walks.
Another one of these six we could see walk is James Van Riemsdyk who started off hot during his arrival in the Bruins system and would find utilization up and down the lineup. But despite that after scoring 37 points( 11 G, 26 A) he would fall into the bottom of the lineup and eventually be scratched.
The same could be said for Matt Grzelcyk who played plenty of playoff games with the Bruins but couldn't be relied upon for offensive output. In 12 playoff games, he'd fail to record a point and would fall out of the lineup once the post-season hit. Again with the emergence of Lohrei and Wotherspoon and the addition of Andrew Peeke, the Bruins will not likely bring him back at $3.6875 Million AAV.
