It seems like Don Sweeney is walking on a thin line, and could end up being fired by the Boston Bruins following a statement by an NHL analyst.

Recently, Sportsnet's analyst Michael Amato stated that this season there are four different teams he could see being sellers.
Of those teams, the Boston Bruins were listed as one of them, with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, and Calgary Flames of the others.
4 Teams That Could Turn into Sellers This Season.
If the Boston Bruins were to shift into a full on rebuild, it could lead to the firing of General Manager Don Sweeney.
Bruins fans have already let the organization know how they feel about the team going into a retool, and if they were to shift over into a full on rebuild, this could boil over tensions in the fan base, and ultimately lead to the firing of Don Sweeney.
Shifting over into a full on rebuild could mean the Boston Bruins would move on from players like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy.
Even if the Bruins do not want to trade them, there is a chance that they could request a trade if this is the route the organization wants to take.

NHL Trade Rumors issues a statement on the Bruins being sellers once again

When speaking about the possibility of the Bruins rebuilding, this is what NHL Trade Rumors had to say:
The Boston Bruins are the final team on Amato's list. After missing the playoffs last year, they could use this season as a soft reset while keeping their young core intact.

Trade chips like Pavel Zacha, Viktor Arvidsson, Sean Kuraly, and Andrew Peeke could fetch picks and prospects, allowing Boston to retool without a full rebuild. With David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy still in their primes, the Bruins could weather a short downturn and emerge stronger if they cash in on those assets.
