On Friday, Sweden revealed its official 2026 Olympic roster, and the Boston Bruins got a split decision.

Elias Lindholm made the cut, while Hampus Lindholm did not, a tough look for a defender who has worn big minutes for years.
Sweden's blue line choices show how tight the squeeze was, with established names like Victor Hedman, Rasmus Dahlin, Erik Karlsson, and Gustav Forsling taking up most of the oxygen. When that many locks exist, one omission can still feel like a message.
The sting doubled because former Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark also got left off, with Sweden opting for Filip Gustavsson, Jacob Markstrom and Jesper Wallstedt instead. Whether that's about recent form, personal circumstances, or both, Sweden isn't spelling it out.
From a Boston perspective, it's easy to see why fans call it disrespect, because Hampus Lindholm has been a real identity piece here. He's not flashy, but his best nights kill plays early and keep the puck moving the right way.
Joe Haggerty even noted the silver lining, three weeks of rest is not the worst thing for the Bruins during a long NHL grind.

Team Sweden leaves Hampus Lindholm off roster

As a Bruins fan, I can't pretend this doesn't feel like a snub, even if the roster math is brutal.
Hampus Lindholm's game is built for short tournaments, clean exits, smart gaps, and calm shifts when the ice tilts. Those skills don't always get you headlines, but they win you periods, especially against top lines.
Now he gets an unwanted break instead of a national spotlight, while Elias Lindholm gets the honor and Ullmark watches from the outside too. That's a weird emotional cocktail for Bruins fans who still associate Sweden moments with Boston sweaters.
The next milestone is how Lindholm responds when the NHL schedule ramps back up. If he turns this into fuel, the Bruins might get the best version of him at the exact time they need it most.
