The Boston Bruins' rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, have bid farewell to a significant piece of their team as defenseman Jake Muzzin has officially retired from professional hockey. Muzzin will transition to a new role within the organization as a pro scout.

Muzzin suffered an brutal injury towards the end of the regular season and many had believed it was a career ending injury.

Muzzin initially became a part of the Maple Leafs' roster through a trade with the Los Angeles Kings in January of 2019. Over the course of his career, which spanned 683 regular season games between Los Angeles and Toronto, the Woodstock, Ontario native tallied an impressive 294 points, comprising 69 goals and 225 assists. In addition to his regular season performance, Muzzin contributed significantly in the playoffs, amassing 28 points from 11 goals and 17 assists throughout 72 career playoff games.

Notably, Muzzin's accomplishments extend beyond the NHL. He was a pivotal member of the Los Angeles Kings' 2014 Stanley Cup-winning team and also played a crucial role in helping Canada secure gold medals at the 2015 IIHF World Championship and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

As Jake Muzzin embarks on his new journey as a pro scout with the Maple Leafs, his contributions to the game and his legacy will be remembered by hockey fans and the teams he represented throughout his illustrious career.
