Bruce Cassidy Honours Family Friend With The Stanley Cup

Almost every other night the Vegas Golden Knights provided an escape for Linda Murray and her family. Those nights the family would push aside their issues and focus on the sport they love, hockey. Which gave them a chance to take their minds off the absence in the house.

Linda Murray watched Bruce Cassidy coaching and the Golden Knights playing, so watching without her daughter, Cassidy, made things a little less hard, less painful.

"They gave us a lot of hope and a lot of life while the Vegas [Golden] Knights were playing," Murray said. "Because for us to sit as a family at our kitchen table is really painful, to sit as three people is a very hard thing to do. Her presence is just missed so much. Just reminders everywhere. It's just a torturous, tortuous journey. "But one thing that we were able to do is sit and watch the Vegas Golden Knights games and root for them and start to escape our reality for an hour every other night."

The Murray family got to watch the Golden Knights' run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, watching an onslaught against the Panthers to win the Stanley Cup Final — They also got to watch Bruce Cassidy raise the Cup.


The new Knights head coach will be helping launch the Cassidy Murray Foundation in Milton, Massachusetts.

And now, Bruce Cassidy got his day with the Stanley Cup bringing it to Milton, Massachusetts, on Thursday. Murray, her husband, Dave, and their son, Adam, were able to be there. Bruce Cassidy will also be bringing the Cup back to where Cassidy Murray, who sadly passed in March of 2022, grew up, not far from where Cassidy restarted his NHL coaching career with the Bruins.

As part of his day with the Cup, Bruce also helped launch the Cassidy Murray Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to help expand educational opportunities and support the mental health needs of those facing unthinkable tragedy.
