Well, the rumors that Don Sweeney wasn't done making moves were true after all, as the Bruins have acquired Tyler Bertuzzi from the Red Wings.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman broke the news first:

Hearing that Tyler Bertuzzi may be going to BOS

Moments later, TSN's Darren Dreger confirmed Friedman's reports:

As @FriedgeHNIC suggests, Tyler Bertuzzi has been informed he's been traded to Boston

Bertuzzi, 28, has 14 points in 28 games this season after missing significant time (twice) as he's broken both hands on separate occasions. For reference of his abilities, the gritty forward registered 30 goals and 32 assists in 68 games for Detroit last season.

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic has shared what the Bruins are sending the other way, and it's less than expected! See below:

Red Wings in return for dealing Bertuzzi get Boston's 2024 1st RD pick (protected) and a 2025 4RD pick

The first round pick is top 10 protected and the Red Wings retained 50% of Bertuzzi's $4.75 million cap hit. He is a UFA after this season.

The bad news is that with only draft picks leaving Boston in this deal, is that either Taylor Hall or Nick Foligno (or both) are injured enough to need LTIR.

However, with the record the Bruins own, they can afford to potentially ‘'rest'' players anyways.
