It was reported yesterday from Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period The Toronto Maple Leafs and pending unrestricted free agent and former Bruin Tyler Bertuzzi may have a deal in place.

The Maple Leafs will likely be the busiest and most intriguing teams in the league during this offseason as Leafs management explained to the fan base that all options are on the table and that major changes are coming to the roster.

The organization has 10 unrestricted free agents and four restricted free agents some with arbitration rights which seems to point to a mini retool of the team. Bertuzzi who signed a one-year deal last season struggled early on with no signs of improvement up until the All-Star game. His second half was far better and became more dominant especially as the playoffs drew near.

Currently, the Leafs currently have $18.8 million in cap space with sixteen players signed to the roster. AFP analytics who is known to predict contracts before they are signed feels that Bertuzzi will land around a four year deal Andy cap hit between 5:00 and $5.5 million AAV.

Bertuzzi played eighty games this season, scoring 21 goals with 22 assists for 43 points and was a + 2 with 53 penalty minutes.

The biggest question mark for the may believes is whether the core 4 will be unravelled or partially unravelled as many feel this would be the change the Leafs need to make the team better for a long-term playoff run.
