The history behind the Wiesblatt family is quite an amazing story. The mother ended up raising four boys while being deaf, Ozzie, Orca, Oasiz, and Ocean, bringing all of them to professional hockey.
All brothers had a different path in how they got to professional hockey, with some choosing to go to the United States, the East Coast of Canada, and some pursued the WHL.
Orca was one brother that chose to go to the WHL, where he played in four seasons with the Calgary Hitmen.
He split some time in the SPHL, and FPHL the past two years, but was ready for a season in the ECHL in the 2025-26 season.
Orca tragically passed away in a car crash
Unfortunately, Orca will not be able to attend his season in the ECHL as it was announced that he was recently involved in a car crash, that ended up taking his life.
Very sad news. Former WHLer was set to play in the ECHL this season.
We are heartbroken to share the passing of former Rock Lobster, Orca Wiesblatt. Orca will always be remembered for his energy, toughness, and infectious smile. Once a Rock Lobster, forever a Rock Lobster. ❤️🦞
Our thoughts are with the Wiesblatt family and all who loved him.
During this time, everyone at Bruins Insider is sending their thoughts and prayers to the Wiesblatt family, friends, teammates, or anyone else affected by this heartbreaking news.
Rest in Peace, Orca Wiesblatt.
