Former Boston bruins forward Daniel Paille hasn't played in the NHL since a brief 12 game stint with the New York Rangers in 2015-16 but was still playing overseas.
Paille has spent the last two seasons with Brynas IF Gavle of the SweHL, but that came to an abrupt halt when he was the victim of a brutal hit last November.
The former B's forward was the victim of an absolutely brutal blindside hit by Thomas Larkin of Adler Mannheim. Paille didn't have the puck and wasn't even close to it.
Paille stayed on the ice for several minutes before he was helped off the ice by trainers. Larkin was eventually handed a four game suspension and there was actually a police report filed against Larkin.
Brynas GM spoke with Czech media recently and said it's highly unlikely Paille will be on skates anytime soon. He said there hasn't been any changes in his health and felt extremely saddened that this is how Paille's career would come to an end.
