The Boston Bruins paid a lot to get Rick Nash at the trade deadline this past year, giving up Ryan Spooner, Matt Beleskey, Ryan Lindgren, their 2018 first round and seventh round picks.
That's why despite some injury issues, it made sense the Bruins would try and re-sign the forward.
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney confirmed recently that the team had stayed in contact with Nash before and after they were showing huge interest in Ilya Kovalchuk.
However, the Bruins received some interesting news recently as Nash might be looking at retirement.
According to Darren Dreger, Nash's agent has stated that the forward remains undecided on his future and likely won't sign a contract on July 1st.
Instead Nash will step back for the next couple of days and re-evaluate if he wants to continue with the game of hockey due to his injury history.
With Kovalchuk gone to the Kings, and now Nash possibly retiring, it'll be interesting to see what the Bruins can land during the offseason.
