Game three against the Panthers is a historic one for the Boston Bruins as for first time in 20 years, this happened during the playoffs.

A Very Rare Occurrence

Already without Patrice Bergeron - who didn't travel with the team - the Bruins announced fellow veteran David Krejci as a late scratch prior to Friday night's game.

According to Sportsnet Stats, that doesn't happen often, or ever.

This is the first #NHLBruins playoff game not to feature either Patrice Bergeron or David Krejci in the lineup since April 17, 2003 (Game 5 of Eastern Conf. Q-Final vs Devils).

The seventh place Bruins lost that opening series in 2003 in five games to the second place Devils, who went on the win the Stanley Cup a couple of months later. That summer, Boston selected Bergeron with the 45th overall pick and he's been in the lineup since.

The franchise has played 179 postseason games since then, with Bergeron appearing in 167, and Krejci 158. The duo has combined for 252 playoff points while the Bruins have a record of 97-82.
