Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney involved in drama

The incident began last week when rumors were circulating around the world that the Boston Bruins were having trouble signing Swayman to a new deal. Whitney made comments towards those rumors which was taken notice by Sweeney.

Sweeney addressed the media regarding the status of the talks and addressed the rumors by the Spittin chiclets directly calling them out while dropping some inappropriate language and even when after the podcasts name calling it the spitting up on yourself podcast.

Whitney fired back to Sweeney by telling him that his sources were good and that he was not lying about what he said.

The Bruins will now face a potential long term holdout situation much like what happened to their rival the Toronto Maple Leafs when William Nylander sat out for his new deal up until the deadline of December 1st. What's interesting is that both players have the same agent who is Lewis Gross. He has been well known through the league as a tough agent to deal with and will force the team to get his client whatever they ask for.

It remains to be seen on whether there will be further words in this standoff but it's safe to say that Ryan Whitney feels very strong about his convictions and his statements and it's likely that Sweeney is overly frustrated with the whole situation especially trading a proven and Vezina winning goaltender to the Ottawa Senators prior to the summer without solving Swayman's contract issue.
