Saturday the NHL announced how much the salary cap will be going up. It currently sits at $83.5 million and the NHL announced that it will be going up to $88 million next year.
This is huge news for the Bruins as it will give them some more flexibility heading into the season with contracts. This year the Bruins were held against the cap ceiling and will allow them to have some more breathing room.
The new minimum cap spending will also be increasing as reported it will be now up to $65 million starting next year.
Teams will still be able to maneuver around the salary cap like the Vegas Golden Knights have been doing by placing players on LTIR, and teams will continue to be able to do so until the next collective bargaining agreement, and the current one runs through the 2025-26 season.
