After suffering a gruesome injury, the Bruins were forced to recall a defenseman from the Providence Bruins to replace Charlie McAvoy.
Just a couple of games ago, facing off against the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins lost a couple of key players.
Viktor Arvidsson suffered an injury, but the Bruins already have a timeline on his return, as he is listed as week-to-week.
Charlie McAvoy, on the other hand, is still undergoing testing after taking a
slapshot to the face, and it's unclear how long he is going to be out for.
Because of this and the fact the Bruins are on a four-game road trip, the Bruins needed an extra defenseman and have recalled a defenseman.

When playing for the Providence Bruins, Callahan has recorded two assists and is a plus-6 rating in 12 games this season.
