Johnson alluded to all the meaningful games he used to play against the Bruins when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning which included playoff games. He also explained how much he hated the Bruins and playing against them, but he looks forward to playing for the organization and in front of the home crowd.
The 34-year-old center is coming off a seven-year deal worth $35 million during his time with the Lightning. He was then traded to the Blackhawks where he finished out his year holding the cap hit of 5,000,000 per season.
If he shows the Bruins that he can play at their level and give them what they need which is more depth at center, he will likely play into a one-year deal somewhere around 1 to $2,000,000. Last season, he played 67 games, scored 17 goals with 14 assists for 31 points.
He will certainly be a good addition if the Bruins want to retain him.
