It was confirmed that the Florida Panthers are going to be without one of their top players for a massive portion of the season.
Matthew Tkachuk was dealing with a injury heading into the playoffs, that caused him to miss a good chunk of the regular season.
He managed to somehow play through it during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but now he is going to have to pay for it.
Tkachuk just recently revealed that he could go the route of getting surgery done for his injury, and it seemed that this was likely going to be the decision he made.
Matthew Tkachuk to miss a good chunk of the season for the Florida Panthers
Well according to NHL insider David Pagnotta, Tkachuk has undergone the surgery.
Pagnotta stated that Tkachuk could miss the remainder of the calendar year, and return back to the lineup sometime in the new year.
Can confirm Matthew Tkachuk underwent surgery a few weeks ago and will miss the start of the season.
Timeline is unclear, but he could be out of action as long as sometime in January.
Tkachuk knew what going for surgery was going to do for him, as just a couple of months ago he ended up stating that he would miss the first two-three months of the season if he did go for the surgery.
"If I do get the surgery, it'll definitely be the first two or maybe three months if that's the case," said Tkachuk. "But it's still undecided at this point."
This is going to be a huge loss for the Florida Panthers, especially considering how much value Tkachuk brings to the table for them.
