VIDEO: Pavel Zacha praises two Bruins for making his decision to sign easier
Restricted free agent forward Pavel Zacha was acquired from the New Jersey Devils on July 13th in exchange for veteran centre Erik Haula.
As an RFA, Zacha filed for arbitration with the Bruins, but the two sides settled on a one-year, $3.5 million contract extension on Monday. The Czechia native met with Boston media yesterday to discuss his new contract.Zacha and his agent agreed to only worry about this season and see how it plays out:
''We made a decision to focus on just this one yearIf everything goes well, they know I wanna stay in Boston for a long time.''
He mentioned that one player, in particular, reached out first after his trade to the Bruins was made official.
Zacha's situation with the Bruins isn't all that different from Taylor Hall's, as he wanted to experience what it's like in Boston before signing a longer-term deal.
It can't be forgotten that Zacha's (somewhat of a) team-friendly deal made it easier for the club to bring back both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, and he said that was thanks to, in big part to, the captain himself:
''When it starts with the captain, it's really nice ... We met where we wanted. I got exactly what I wanted for a contract there. ... It's all about winning.''
