A couple of insiders chimed in recently stating that the Boston Bruins would not be willing to trade prospects to help the team right now.

We saw it going back to last year when Bruins general manager Don Sweeney walked away from a Colorado Avalanche proposal which could have had either Matt Duchene or Gabriel Landeskog come to Boston, however defenseman Brandon Carlo would have went the other way. Sweeney wanted no part of trading away the 21 year old Carlo.
The team has also rejected a trade last year which would have involved giving up Trent Frederic, so what exactly are the Bruins willing to trade?
It looks like late round draft picks according to insider Elliotte Friedman.
With reports indicating that the team is looking for some possible help by acquiring a top 6 winger or a top four defenseman, it'll be hard to land either of those with late round picks.
Friedman mentions that Bruins could make a push to land Vancouver's Thomas Vanek, a player B's fans will be very familiar with from his playoff play with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs. While he has scored 40 goals in the past, he's clearly a shell of himself and it's hard to believe he can fill a top 6 role despite having 12 goals in 42 games this season.
The team is also seeking some help on the left side of the defense according to Friedman, however with Matt Grzelcyk doing a respectable job at the moment, the B's might not want to give up anything to push the 24 year old out of the lineup.
What should be the priority for Sweeney, a top 6 forward or some help on the blueline?
