REPORT: NHL to implement mandatory protective for new players entering the league

In recent years, the NHL has saw an alarming increase of 'cut by skate blade'' related injuries and now the league is looking at ways to prevent them.
This season has been the worst for such incidents, most notably when Evander Kane of the Oilers who had multiple arteries and tendons cut in his wrist earlier this season. More recently, both Ryan Johanson of the Predators and Tyler Seguin of the Stars have suffered significant cut-related injuries.Now, as TSN's Chris Johnston reports, the league is looking to implement a mandatory protective gear for all new players entering the league:
''The NHL would like to get to a point where cut-resistant equipment is mandated for all new players entering the league, according to deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

Like Kane's and several players before him, these types of injuries aren't only career-threatening, but possibly life-threatening as well.
Even though some players may hate wearing it, I think it should be mandatory for everyone. Hopefully it doesn't take an even worse incident for a major change to happen.
Especially in today's game, where trainers have access to an unlimited supply of sharp skates blades that can be popped in and out in seconds.
