The NHL wasn't the only ones with a strong message for A.J. Greer, as Bruins' Jim Montgomery shared what he told his forward after the incident.

Keeping Your Emotions in Check

Montgomery stated that he spoke to Greer after he was kicked out of Thursday night's game for a cross check to the face of Mike Hoffman.

Although Greer is often the odd-man out in the lineup, the Bruins bench boss noted how his team has to keep their emotions in check.

As per NESN:

''We talked about playing with emotion, which is great, but not getting emotional. Unfortunately that stick rode up. I don't know if it rode up the stick or the shoulder pad and it cut him. It's something we can learn from in the playoffs because you can't take those kinds of penalties in playoffs.''

‘'Whenever I do talk to him, because we're going to be off (Friday), I'll talk to him about the necessity of controlling his emotions and that he needs to learn from it, that's all. We're going to move past that.''

Greer had a hearing with Player Safety on Friday and was handed a one game suspension for the play.
