One day ahead of free agency this off-season, the Boston Bruins ended up signing Johnny Beecher to a contract extension.
Since being drafted by the Boston Bruins in the first-round pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Johnny Beecher has shown some flash.
It's clear that the Boston Bruins do have faith in him though, but he needs to give them a reason to keep him around after this year.
The Boston Bruins ended up signing him to a one-year, $900,000 deal as a restricted free agent in the off-season after becoming a regular player on their roster this past season.
In 78 games played with the Boston Bruins, Beecher ended up scoring three goals, along with 8 assists for 11 points.
Ever since being drafted, the 24-year-old was not held to high expectations, especially whenever it comes to scoring goals, but the Bruins were getting a speedy playmaker who is solid and hard to play against defensively.
Beecher is prepared to earn another deal with the Boston Bruins
Instead of looking at it in a negative way, Beecher is prepared to go out and earn another contract from the Boston Bruins.
NHL teams are always looking for solid bottom-six players who can be effective night in and night out.
Recently Beecher spoke with The Boston Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont and stated that's what he wanted to be for the Boston Bruins.
«At the end of the day, it's a go-out-and-earn-it deal,» Beecher said of his contract.
«I've got a season in front of me, I've got to go and prove that I belong, not only in the NHL but on the Boston Bruins,» he added. «I'm really excited for it, it's a fresh start.»

It's going to be interesting to see if Beecher can become that for the Boston Bruins this upcoming season.
