Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei has really turned his game around since being benched by head coach Marco Sturm, and an announcement was just made.
After playing very poorly defensively to start the season off, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm ended up benching Mason Lohrei.
Lohrei was benched for five straight games and wasn't expected to enter back into the lineup anytime soon, but an opportunity arose for him.
Heading to Toronto, it was announced that
Charlie McAvoy was stepping away from the team due to a personal matter.
Charlie McAvoy is home because of a personal matter. Casey Mittlestadt (upper body) did not travel.
This opened up an opportunity for Lohrei to re-enter the lineup, and he's been taking full advantage of it.
Although he is getting sheltered minutes on the third defensive pairing, Lohrei is still making the most of it.
Lohrei has been hot since his return
In his first two games back with the Bruins, Lohrei has three points, all of them being assists.
But in his last 4 games, Lohrei has 6 points for the Bruins. It seems like the sheltered minutes are the best for Lohrei right now while he adjusts to the NHL.
