The Boston Bruins are in the midst of a retool, and look like an entirely new team during the second half of the season. NHL Insider Ryan Ventura thinks the team should continue the teardown and trade Joonas Korpisalo.

The Boston Bruins look like a completely different team since they began the retool. It involved sending Charlie Coyle, Brad Marchand, Brandon Carlo, and Trent Frederic out for assets, picks, and prospects.
With news that the team has lost the last sixteen of their nineteen games, the Bruins need a course-correction.
With the 26th best record in the NHL, they will have to consider drastic measures in order to find themselves a top team in the league again.
That's why they should consider moving goalie Joonas Korpisalo.

Korpisolid

When it comes to a comparison between himself and Jeremy Swayman, he's proven himself as the better goalie this season.
Korpisalo and Swayman may have identical save percentages at .893, but Korpisalo has a lower GAA and has won a higher percentage of games this season.
While he had an off-year in Ottawa, it appears he's rebounded in Boston and provided netminding that's far above Swayman's value this season.
One bad game in Anaheim shouldn't be the game that makes or breaks his value as a backup. Prior to that game against the Ducks, he'd play a stretch of five games where he'd allow three or fewer goals for the Bruins.
At $4 million AAV, many NHL teams would love to have a veteran backup with solid numbers in the crease like Korpisalo has produced.
Moving Korpisalo would prove to be smart not only for the Bruins' wallet, but it'd allow them to promote a better goalie in the AHL, Michael DiPietro, who only allows over 2 goals a game, and has a .928 save percentage.
DiPietro would give the Bruins a stellar backup who could play 30 games a season, and give Swayman enough time to rest in rebound from a terrible 2024-2025 season.
Moving Korpisalo would give the Bruins more cap space to work with and allow them to promote DiPietro, who has earned it in the AHL.
It might be a difficult decision for the Bruins, but a long-term look for the team should play into the discussion. Money and assets take primacy over veteran goalies who could find success elsewhere, as he hasn't found it in Boston.
