A major development had surfaced in the Boston Bruins being set to place a defenseman on waivers, and it's shocking.

Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, and the front office are continuing their pursuit to put a contending team together, in hopes to make postseason contention for their upcoming campaign.
Part of this effort was shown this offseason, as the organization signed depth players to bolster their current roster.
One of these offseason signings was acquiring former Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Jordan Harris.
Harris, a former third round pick for the Canadiens in 2018, has shown solid play since his debut with Montreal during the 2021/22 season, where he endured 10 games.
His performance led him to earning a shot at making the team the following season, where Harris played 65 games during his 2022/2023 campaign, and 56 in 2023/24.
This young defenseman was then dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where the organization had high hopes for Harris, however, he didn't pan out well in Columbus.
Harris appeared in 33 games, with an underwhelming record of one goal and four assists, due to this Columbus did not issue him a qualifying offer, which led him to becoming a free agent this summer.
Once Harris hit the market, the Boston Bruins picked him up on a one-year, $825K deal, and while this was a bit of a savvy signing, it was also a bit of a gamble.

Boston Bruins' recent addition, Jordan Harris, could find himself on waivers if he can't prove he's cut out for the NHL

It is uncertain what the purpose was for the Boston Bruins to sign Harris, as this defenseman will most likely be the organization's seventh defenseman.
And that would mean sitting in the press box most nights, but the Bruins need depth on the blue line, and it is certain that Harris ca deliver that at the right price.
This spot also makes him a much easier candidate to put him on waivers if he proves he's not cut out for the NHL, as the bruins have other internal candidates who could take his place if push came to shove.
