Boston Bruins' Charlie McAvoy speaks up regarding his recently life threatening surgery.

During the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, Boston Bruins defenseman, Charlie McAvoy, sustained an injury that would later conclude in surgery.
While he was representing Team USA, he endured an injury to his right shoulder's AC joint, yet McAvoy continued to play with his country rather than seek medical attention.
Unfortunately, due to this, he developed a dangerous staph infection that eventually forced him to undergo surgery, which ultimately concluded his 2024/25 NHL season.
«I just can't thank (the doctors) enough,» McAvoy said to Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas on the 32 Thoughts podcast.

McAvoy would later reveal that this staph infection began making its way from his shoulder to his heart, which led him to undergoing an emergency surgery.
However, luckily enough, the doctors were able to act very quickly, and helps this defenseman get back to full health.
It was just a tough time. I had a newborn at home,» McAvoy said. «It was just a lot to deal with. Our support system was so great.»

Boston Bruins' Charlie McAvoy has just opened up regarding the incident

Now, with McAvoy back to full health, he has turned his attention to the upcoming regular season, and the defenseman admitted that he was frustrated last season.
This is due to the fact that he had to watch his team struggle down the stretch and finish the campaign in the NHL basement.
That said, McAvoy has expressed that he is confident that Boston will be a playoff team for the upcoming season, despite their recent fire sale during the NHL Trade Deadline.
«We've got everything to prove. This the first time in my career that we're going into this year probably not being a playoff team by a lot of people's metrics. We're a playoff team every day of the week, in my mind,» McAvoy said. «We have everything we need. We have more than enough on this roster to be that. So that's the goal.»
