A former Boston Bruins coach underwent a scary life threatening surgery.

Saturday it was announced that former Bruins coach Mike Keenan underwent open heart surgery.

Following the reports it states that Mike is recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery.

No longer Italy's National Head Coach, but will be their hockey consultant. Recovering well from open heart surgery 🙏 ❤️‍🩹 👍🏻

Mike Keenan coached in the NHL from 1984 up until 2008 when he decided to call it a career, and spent one season with the Boston Bruins during the 2000-2001 season.

During his year with the Boston Bruins Keenan lead them to a 33-26-7-8 for 81 points in 76 games, and the Bruins would end up finishing fourth in the league that year.

This isn't Keenan's first time going through a life changing event as in 2018 he announced that he was battling prostate cancer.

Keenan is a warrior and hope that he has a full recovery!
