Entering the season, the Boston Bruins made it clear that they were not officially replacing Brad Marchand as captain.

But they never stated that they weren't going to announce another assistant captain for the season.
Well today, the Boston Bruins made a captaincy announcement, and there will be three players wearing the 'A' on their chest this season.

Bruins announce a new assistant captain

Ahead of their first game against the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins announced a new assistant captain.
Everyone knew that Charlie McAvoy, and David Pastrnak were going to be sporting the 'A' this season, but it wasn't clear who the third person was going to be, if the Bruins did make one.
Now we know who will be rocking the third 'A' on their chest.
The Boston Bruins just announced that along with McAvoy and Pastrnak, Hampus Lindholm will also be wearing an 'A' this season.

Earlier in the off-season, there was some speculation that the Boston Bruins were going to announce a new assistant captain.
And all signs pointed to Hampus Lindholm being the guy for the Boston Bruins.
With #NHLBruins management saying there is the possibility of the team starting the season without a captain, it would not surprise me to see Hampus Lindholm join David Pastrnak & Charlie McAvoy with an «A» on his sweater this year.
Now the Boston Bruins have made it official ahead of their first game against the Washington Capitals.
Puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Washington.
