Michael Delrosa of The Hockey News announced that former Boston Bruins defenseman Jarred Tinordi has signed a one-year two-way deal with the Calgary Flames while his cap hit is $800,000.
Tinordi had played with the Bruins in 2020-2021 after being claimed on waivers. He played fourteen regular seasons with the team and only had one assist but had 44 hits. The 32-year-old defenseman played for the Chicago Blackhawks last season and had no goals with 9 assists with 94 blocks and 171 hits.
Standing at six foot 6 and 229 lbs, Tinordi was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2010, first round 22nd overall. Through 205 games played he has four goals with 26 assists for 30 points.
Adding a player like Tinordi continues to show that the Calgary Flames are rebuilding their franchise and are adding depth defencemen who will bolster their lineup, help develop the young players and potentially become trade bait when next year's trade deadline arrives.
Only time will tell on how effective he will be for the Flames.
