Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, June 23, that the team has signed defenseman Mason Lohrei to a two-year contract extension through the 2026-27 season with an annual cap hit of $3.2 million.
The 24-year-old defenseman appeared in 77 games for the Boston Bruins where he had five goals, 28 assists for a total of 33 points.
In just his second year in the NHL, Mason Lohrei showed a lot of upside for the Boston Bruins, especially whenever
Charlie McAvoy went down with a season ending injury.
Among all Bruins skaters last season, Lohrei sat second in power play points (16), fourth in assists, and fifth in points.
This is a great signing by Don Sweeney, and leaves the Bruins a lot of cap space to make other moves.
