New details have revealed that the Minnesota Wild have re-signed Kirill Kaprizov to a record breaking deal on Tuesday.

Multiple insiders including Kevin Weekes and Elliotte Friedman, along with others ended up confirming this news just moments ago.

Kaprizov signs a record breaking deal

Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Minnesota Wild signed Kaprizov to a eight-year, $16 million contract extension, making him the highest paid player in NHL history.
"Kirill Kaprizov signs an 8-year extension, above $16M AAVhighest deal in NHL history"

- Elliotte Friedman
Friedman just revealed that it is actually a $17 million contract, which is just mind blowing.
The AAV will be $17M

This confirms it for the Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins were rumored to be interested in trading to acquire Kaprizov, but with this news coming out, it's clear that won't happen anymore.
With Boston needing a top-six player, and his future with the Wild's organization unclear, it lead to a lot of rumors that the Bruins may try and trade to acquire him.
Obviously at that price tag, the Boston Bruins would not be interested in making a move for him.
Instead, the free agency class next season is expected to be loaded with top end talent, and the Boston Bruins can wait and make a big move then.
Do you think the Minnesota Wild overpaid to keep Kaprizov around?
