This season has been a struggle for the Bruins whenever it comes to injuries, and we are only a quarter of the way through the season.
As of right now, the Bruins currently have five key players injured, and according to Russell Macias of The Hockey News, another player has been added to that list.
All key players that have made a big impact on the Bruins season so far and are a big reason they currently sit where they do in the standings.
Well, now another forward has been added to the list, and the Bruins are currently down four forwards.
Viel suffers an injury
Russell Macias of The Hockey News reported that Bruins gritty forward Jeffrey Viel was injured ahead of their game against the LA Kings on Friday night.
Viel was not present during the Bruins skate ahead of their game, signaling that he is also dealing with an injury.
"Jeffrey Viel will be the newest injured Bruin, as he did not skate in the morning and is out for tonight's game in Los Angeles."
-Russell Macias, The Hockey News
This isn't as big of a loss as some of the other players the Bruins are already without, but Viel adds some grit to the lineup.
Whenever he does play, he plays with an edge, not afraid to throw his weight around or drop the gloves to stick up for teammates or just try and get them going.
So far this season, Viel has appeared in 8 games for the Bruins, scoring 0 points, has 28 penalty minutes along with 25 hits, and is a minus-1 on the season.
