Don Sweeney ended up completing a signing in the off-season that has paid off greatly for the Boston Bruins.
Back in the off-season, Don Sweeney re-signedMorgan Geekie to a six-year, $5.5 million deal.
This was seen as a low-risk, high-reward signing, especially considering Geekie ended up scoring 33 goals for the Bruins last season.
And because of the slow start that he had, Don Sweeney got Geekie to sign a very team-friendly contract.
Geekie ended up setting new career highs in goals in his first two seasons with the Bruins before earning his latest deal, but at the time, many believed the Bruins may have overpaid for Geekie.
Just 24 games into the season, and Geekie has proved everyone wrong who thought he was getting overpaid in the summer.
Just on the Bruins' three-game road trip so far, Geekie has scored 5 goals for the Bruins and was the reason they won their game on Friday against the Kings.
Along with that, he has 17 goals on the season which is tied for the most with Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche.
Will Geekie score 50 goals?
To say that Geekie's season has been surprising is an understatement. No one saw this coming from him when the Bruins first acquired him.
Since the beginning of the calendar year, though, he has been playing in the Bruins' top six and has been driving a big chunk of their offense.
Now the question remains on whether or not he can continue this type of offensive production and hit 50 goals this season.
Right now, Geekie is on pace to score 57 goals if he continues to score at the rate he is.
Do you think Morgan Geekie is going to score 50+ goals for the Boston Bruins?
