Leading up to their game against the Anaheim Ducks, the Bruins made an official captaincy announcement.
The Bruins are entering their second game without Charlie McAvoy tonight after losing 3-1 in their last game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
McAvoy was injured in the Bruins game against the Montreal Canadiens on November 15th whenever he took a slapshot to the face.
Watching the game against the Hurricanes, it showed just how much the Bruins miss McAvoy on the ice.
Well, they are going to be without him again tonight and for the near future, as he just underwent surgery on his face, and the Bruins made a captaincy announcement.
Bruins announce a new alternate captain with McAvoy out
Because McAvoy is out of the lineup, the Bruins have named a new alternate captain in his place, and they have given it to Nikita Zadorov.
Zadorov will enter the game tonight wearing the third "A" on his chest.
Along with that, Zadorov is going to have a new partner on defense.
During the Bruins' morning skate, it was revealed that Jonathan Aspirot is taking Charlie McAvoy's place in the lineup and is going to be paired with Zadorov for tonight.
