Trusted NHL Insider Reveals The Boston Bruins Are Entertaining Trade Offers For Brad Marchand
The Boston Bruins are in the midst of singing their Captain Brad Marchand to a new contract, albeit they are also listening in on trade offers.
The Boston Bruins may say one thing, and do another as they have plans on signing their Captain
Brad Marchand.
We have to assume, that has been a topic of discussion between the two camps as they have recently traded
Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers. While other teams have shown interest in what is considered the "core" lineup.
Apparently, GM Don Sweeney is taking calls and isn't telling teams "no" when it comes to Marchand's availability.
Could this end up being a sign-and-trade scenario for the Captain? Something like this doesn't typically happen in the NHL.
The Bruins would be trading away a franchise star if they were to move on from
Marchand.
He's been wearing the spoked-B since 2009 and was instrumental in both runs to the Stanley Cup finals in 2011, and 2019.
He's made $6.125 million a year, for the last eight years and was given the Bruins Captain patch last season.
Entertaining a trade with a team's captain isn't unrealistic if we look at the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Steve Stamkos last season.
Marchand will be 37 and his production will decline slightly, as it has this year after dealing with three surgeries from the off-season.
In 61 games with the Bruins he's scored 47 points 21 G, 26 A) and was a key piece in Canada's lineup for the Four Nations Face-Off.
Where could Marchand land next?
Keep your eyes peeled, and ears open.
