Today, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that two players were placed on the waiver wire, and the Boston Bruins have a chance to acquire them for free.

Elliotte Friedman ended up making a post on social media today, revealing that both Lucas Carlsson, and Jack Thompson of the San Jose Sharks were placed on the waiver wire.
Both of them have some NHL experience under their belts, and both are on super affordable contracts.
Thompson was a former third round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning, being selected 93rd overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and he has appeared in 34 games over that stretch.
During those 34 games, Thompson has scored 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points.
Most of his NHL appearances came with the Sharks during the 2024-25 NHL season, where he appeared in 31 games, and scored all of his points then as well.
Carlsson on the other had, was selected in the fourth round by Chicago Blackhawks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
He's appeared in 73 games in the NHL between a couple organizations including the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, and Florida Panthers.
In 73 games, Carlsson has scored 4 goals, 11 assists for a total of 15 points.

Friedman confirms they were placed on waivers

Elliotte Friedman confirmed that both men were placed on the waiver wire earlier this morning:
Lucas Carlsson & Jack Thompson (both SJ) on waivers today
Currently, both players are in their last year of their contract, and have a very affordable cap hit of just $800,000 a year.
If the Boston Bruins are looking to acquire some depth, snagging one of them for free may not be a bad idea.
