Last season was the first time in eight years that the Boston Bruins ended up missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but now Elliotte Friedman has made a bold take on this season, stating they are going to be a playoff team once again.
After being a subpar team last season, the Boston Bruins ended up being sellers at the NHL trade deadline.
Don Sweeney ended up trading away some big named players, officially beginning their retool.
Players like Brandon Carlo, Justin Brazeau, Trent Frederic, Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand were all traded in order for the Bruins to acquire top prospects along with some draft picks.
Boston ended up finishing 28th last season after selling at the deadline, earning a top 10 draft pick.
There were talks that the Bruins were going to trade their 7th overall pick, but instead kept it and drafted James Hagens, who is expected to be a star one day in the league.
Entering this season, it was unclear how the Boston Bruins were going to fair, but Elliotte Friedman had a bold take on them.
Friedman believes the Bruins will be a playoff team
After making some moves in the off-season and bringing in a more defensive minded coach, Friedman believes that the Bruins are going to be back into the playoffs this season.
Friedman stated that he's unsure how many goals the Bruins are going to score with a weak offensive core, but he believes that they are going to be a better defensive team.
Friedman on 32TP picks the Bruins as his gutsy pick to make the playoffs: "The reason I am taking Boston is, I don't know how much they're going to score, but I think they're going to defend a lot better"
