Charlie McAvoy ended up revealing earlier in the off-season that the Boston Bruins were entering the season with no captain, but today they gave defenseman Hampus Lindholm a new role.
After
Brad Marchand ended up leaving the
Boston Bruins organization, the Bruins weren't sure if they were going to announce a captain to replace him.
Well they sort of did, but not in the way that was expected.
Instead of announcing an official captain, the Boston Bruins ended up announcing a new assistant captain ahead of their season opener.
Along with Lindholm, both
David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy are still wearing the "A" as well.
Before their first game against the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins are already putting Lindholm to work in his new leadership role.

Just after being announced the new assistant captain, the Boston Bruins are already putting Lindholm to work in his new role.
Lindholm ended up leading the post skate stretch for the Boston Bruins during practice this morning.
Newly named alternate captain Hampus Lindholm leads the post skate stretch.
It will be interesting how the Boston Bruins do with him being a leader on the team.
Last season, Lindholm was a key player for the Boston Bruins, and when he went down with his season ending injury, it affected the Bruins.
