Former Bruins captain Brad Marchand just made a heartwarming gesture following the passing of one of his friend's daughters.

Earlier today, the reason why Marchand stepped away from the Panthers was finally revealed, and it was due to one of his friends' daughters passing away.
Marchand will be coaching a U18 game in Nova Scotia to support his longtime friend JP MacCallum, who just lost his daughter.
A statement was made on the matter:
On behalf of The Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League, we extend our deepest condolences to Coach JP MacCallum and his family on the tragic loss of his daughter, Selah.

In an incredible show of support and friendship, Brad Marchand and Andrew Bodnarchuk will step behind the bench to coach the Marchand & Mill Co. Hunters this Wednesday as they face the Halifax Macs, allowing JP to remain at home with his family during this difficult time.

This gesture reflects the true spirit of the hockey community in Nova Scotia, one built on compassion, loyalty, and connection that extends far beyond the rink.

Our thoughts are with JP, his loved ones, and the entire Hunters organization.

- Paul Graham
President, Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League
Now, some new details have emerged and Marchand has made a heartwarming gesture.

It was just revealed that Marchand has set up some charities for MacCallum and his family.

MacCallum recently lost his 10-year-old daughter, Selah, who died of cancer. Marchand also helped set up charitable efforts for the family ❤️
This is just pure class from the former Bruins captain. Our thoughts are with the MacCallum family.
