The other day, it was announced that Brad Marchand was stepping away from the Florida Panthers due to a loss, but now we have the exact details.

Marchand was not in the Panthers lineup for their previous game against the Anaheim Ducks, as it was reported that there was a loss in his circle.
Well, today he still wasn't present at Panthers practice, and now we have the details on why, and it's heartbreaking.
Hello from #FlaPanthers practice. Still no Brad Marchand. Don't see Aaron Ekblad on the ice either.

Marchand takes over as coach after the loss of a friend's daughter.

A statement this morning revealed that Marchand is going to be coaching in Nova Scotia today as he is covering for coach JP MacCallum after the loss of his daughter.
Here is the statement:
On behalf of The Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League, we extend our deepest condolences to Coach JP MacCallum and his family on the tragic loss of his daughter, Selah.

In an incredible show of support and friendship, Brad Marchand and Andrew Bodnarchuk will step behind the bench to coach the Marchand & Mill Co. Hunters this Wednesday as they face the Halifax Macs, allowing JP to remain at home with his family during this difficult time.

This gesture reflects the true spirit of the hockey community in Nova Scotia, one built on compassion, loyalty, and connection that extends far beyond the rink.

Our thoughts are with JP, his loved ones, and the entire Hunters organization.

- Paul Graham
President, Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League
This is such a heartwarming gesture by the former Bruins captain and our thoughts and prayers are with MacCallum and his family as they go through this tough time.
