It seems like the Boston Bruins have officially demoted top defenseman Charlie McAvoy, and a statement has been made.

This season, McAvoy has been one of the worst defensemen for the Bruins, and it seems like he is holding his defensive partners back right now.
Mason Lohrei and Charlie McAvoy have been a pairing together all season long but have been one of the Bruins' worst defensive pairings when they are supposed to be the top one.
Because of how bad they have been, in their game against the Avalanche the other night, Marco Sturm finally split the pairing up after fans kept asking for it.
This worked out for the Bruins, as Mason Lohrei went on to have a career best game, and the Bruins finally won a game as well.
For some reason though, Marco Sturm thought it was a good idea to put this pair back together for their game against the Ottawa Senators and it didn't go well.
Entering the third period down 3-1, the Bruins split this pair up once again. Although it didn't change anything, it's just a sign that they should not be together.

McAvoy got demoted by the Bruins

During their 7-2 loss to the Senators, it seems like Sturm demoted McAvoy for his poor play this season.
McAvoy had the lowest time on ice among all defensemen in their 7-2 loss. He only played 17:23 of ice time.
Charlie McAvoy had the lowest time on ice (17:23) among BOS defensemen tonight against OTT
So far this season, McAvoy has been averaging 23:49 of ice time, and it will be interesting to see if he goes back up to that once again tonight, or if he is held to fewer minutes again.
