The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney are hoping to make a big splash when it comes to the NHL trade deadline.
However two of the players that they might have been targeting might not even get moved at all.
According to Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher himself, the Flyers might be looking at keeping Wayne Simmonds around as their "own rental" because of the big influence he is in the locker room and how the team has been playing lately.
It's exactly what the Toronto Maple Leafs did with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak last year.
Pierre LeBrun of
The Athletic reports that the Carolina Hurricanes will likely do the same with Ferland. LeBrun writes that a month ago Ferland could have been had for a first round pick, however with the way the Hurricanes have turned it up lately it's likely that they keep him as their "own rental".
With
Artemi Panarin likely going to cost an arm and a leg, it might be slim pickings for the Bruins at the deadline.
