Yesterday, the Vegas Golden Knights were dealt a very difficult blow.
The team announced that goaltender,
Robin Lehner will miss the entire 2022-23 season due to a hip injury. Lehner will be having surgery that will require significant rehab.
This news sent the Vegas fan base into a panic, with no other suitable replacement for Lehner on the roster.
Last summer, Vegas traded away
Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks, handing the starting role fully to Lehner. Now Vegas has no options.
However, Golden Knights' General Manager, Kelly McCrimmon might have found his replacement. This move would not only be a replacement, but could be a upgrade on Lehner.
TSN reporter Shawn Simpson seems to think that Montreal Canadiens goaltender
Carey Price could be an option.
The only issue is Price's $10,500,000 annual salary. Both the Golden Knights and Canadiens are both in a cap crunch, but the injury to Lehner allows the Golden Knights to exceed the cap by nearly $12,000,000.
